First Impressions

Well, this is a little late - but I'm going to post it anyway. I tried posting this a few weeks ago and I'm not sure what happened. So....here are my first impressions, with others to follow soon.

I am pretty excited with my placement this semester. I am in a 6th grade social studies class with a very experienced teacher. He seems to be pretty relaxed and calm with the students which I enjoy. This is my first experience in a 6th grade class, so I am looking forward to the experience even though my youngest son is in the 6th grade. I'm pretty sure I want to teach either 7th or 8th grade, but this will be good me to verify that choice. Also, 1 of the classes has students with IEPs. My cooperating teacher last semester did not have any students with IEPs so I feel this will also be a good experience for me. I am also looking forward to spending time in a social studies class rather than math.

Joanne, I have had experience with all three grade levels throughout my admissions and practicum placements, and I find that 6th grade is where I would most like to end up teaching. They are still sweet and somewhat innocent. Well, I am glad things are working out for you this semester. Let me know how it goes.
